Success in Referral Practicing is Found in the Chiropractor’s Stats – Part 1

Where does the referral base of your practice stack up compared to others? Here is another question for you to consider. Do you even now that there is a formula that each chiropractor can use to gauge where their average number of monthly referrals should be maintained?
Yes, there is such a formula that you can utilize. I will give you a couple of examples of what I am talking about.
In our first example, let’s say that doctor A averages seeing 500 patient visits a month then the established formula would show that he or she should be able to count on approximately 15 direct new patient referrals in any given month. Doctor B sees approximately 1000 patient visits a month so he/she should be able to expect somewhere between 28 to 35 direct referrals per month. Lastly Dr. C is seeing a smaller number of patient visits compared to Dr. B by seeing 100 patient visits per month but Dr. C should be able to count on between 5 to 7 direct referrals per month.
Now it is impossible for me to teach all aspects of this industry standard formula in a blog post but this should give each of you (that are in practice) something to compare your statistics with. If you find that you are not seeing these type of typical results then it simply shows you that there is room to improve.
The fact is that if your numbers don’t stack up to these then you can have the HOPE that there are ways to improve these stats. That is one of my favorite aspects about stats. Most people don’t even take the time to keep such statistics but even those that do usually don’t take the time to see what they tell us.
On our next visit we will discuss how we can take the information that you can find in this formula and the statistics of your own practice and have not only the hope in the the future but the excitement that comes when these numbers increase. We will talk then but in the meantime compare your last 3 months average patient visits against your last 3 months average direct new patient referrals to see what the condition of your referral practice is currently.
